Blogmas Day 7
Whoop Whoop, am so excited to have been able to blog consistently for 7 days Today. And staying sane while at it! So on the 7th Day of Blogmas at MissKymmiee Creatives, lets dip into the beauty section. sounds good? Holiday Skin Care Routine Essentials. We all love the holidays, right? With everything that comes with it; the good the bad &the ugly. Too little sleep, too much holiday cheer, a little to no alone time, the shopping stress, the Family around the holidays and Festivity foods.—Speaking of festivity foods, I have complied some mouth-watering-Finger-licking14 Beginner Friendly Christmas Recipes for you, do check it out incase you missed it.
Where was I? Oh, Holiday Skin Care Routine Essentials right! The skin, faces a little neglect over the holidays, I mean it’s almost natural to want to loosen up, However, research has shown the following to be more prone especially with the holidays around the corner. Just to mention but a few.
An excess of salty snacks, sugar-laden treats, and celebratory libations (Hello, eggnog!) around the holidays can lead to water retention and increased puffiness around the eyes.
- Fatigued Skin
Dull, dehydrated, tired-looking skin is a hallmark of being sleep deprived—something many of us experience after many a late night out around the holidays (and we all know that one party too many is almost inevitable).
So many factors contribute to breakouts: Added stress, gluten-loaded sweets, and an increase in the amount of foundation you wear or the type of makeup you wear, or being too tired to wash your makeup off after a late night out. Or, for some of us, it can simply be not adhering to our normal skin care routine while we’re traveling for the holidays.
Dryness from Head to Toe
The combination of frigid and dry outdoor weather and the dry, hot air circulating in our homes and cars this time of year can suck the moisture right out of your skin.
With That in mind, and the change of weather and all the Holiday stress and Cheer in between its only fair to Up the Daily Skin Care Routine, so as when the holidays are gone, we are still left with that Holiday Glow! Literally. I have talked about Skin Care Routines on the Blog Before. The first time, was Earlier this Year Where I shared my Everyday Facial Skin Care Routine and just like time, a lot has changed since then. I also shared an Updated Skin Care Routine some time in August, Skin Care Routine: Updated So do check the post out if you want to know all the bits and Bobs that go into place.
However in today’s post, the Holiday Skin Care Routine Essentials I will not go in circles but rather add some emphasize on products and add a few New ones, so that you can give your skin the best care possible.

Holiday Skin Care Routine: Extras
Invest in Eye Cremes
Consider investing in an eye creme to get rid of the whole eye bag situation. Which gets worse with all the holiday activities. Mind you, the eyes are the most sensitive and neglected part of the face. and the worst thing, it’s the first place that shows stress and aging. Yup, I was shocked as hell. Well unless that’s the look you were going for Suzan, Then by all means. See a dermatologist before investing on an eye creme they can be quite pricy but clearly .worth the investment
UV Sun Protection Creme/ Lotion
This goes both ways, If your taking a holiday in Hawaii or the Alps/ Kilimanjaro Mountains, UV Skin protection cremes are a must-have. With everything that’s happening with the environment and the ozone layer, our skins are even more or so exposed. You could see a dermatologist to know the best one for your skin or be sure it has the following features,
- Has a sun protection factor (SPF) of at least 30
- Has a broad spectrum, in other words, protect against both UVA and UVB rays
- Takes into account the personal characteristics of your skin (i.e. dry skin vs. oily skin), and
- Contain safe and effective ingredients
Incorporate Facial Mask into your Holiday Skin Care Routine
Face masks are an undeniably satisfying part of the spa visit, as there’s nothing quite like the feeling of pampering yourself and giving your skin some much-needed TLC. Before you write face masks off as spa-only luxuries, think again. You can take pleasure in some of the best facial masks without stepping foot outside your door. Masks are soothing, takes care of all the ganks in the skin, Rehydrating, they open up pores and leaves your skin all forms of airy. And they come quite more useful during the Holidays with all the multi-tasking. There a few good masks in the markets from the tee tree, to SK-II to Clay and Mud just to mention a few of my faves.
Remove the Make Up at the end of the day
This goes without saying but am here saying it, because lots seem to over look this. As much as they say make up is harmless and everything, we all know it’s debatable. But one thing is definitely a sure thing, It’s Harmful to sleep with Make-up at night. The skin tends to breathe better during the night or so they say, Regardless, if its clogged and has all those impurities, you clearly know break-outs, Acne and dead skin are coming to ruin your entire Holiday. right? So do your lovely skin a Favour and Wash you make up off, use the same effort or more in taking it out as you did applying the make up.
The Last thing you would be thinking over the holiday is to check your Water intake. But I urge you not to over look this bit, especially with everything new you will be incorporating in your diet. You need your body to stay on its toes flushing out toxins and also it aids up the Radiant, Bouncy, healthy and glow of the skin effortless. Do yourself a favour and hydrate over the holidays.
Have a Girls Pamper Day
The holidays are a time of giving and receiving, So for a change give yourself a holiday skin Care pamper. This is even more fun when you are able to bring your girls, cousins or siblings. Depending on the budget, this can be done from the comfort of your home or spend a little extra in the spa and you will definitely enjoy your holidays more.
