This is the type of content that people will value the most, Sadly, nobody is as interested about you and your pet named Luchi. Great content will help people feel like they know, like and trust you – which is really important if you want to make money from your blog.
Build Your Email List
You will see lots of bloggers who proclaim that the money is in the list. In my early days I didn’t buy into this ideology but now it’s one of the most important things I focus on. Once you’ve developed your fan base, it is essential to retain them as you continue to build your personal brand. In the case of my blog, about 99% of my early readers would come, read a single article, and then leave forever. So instead of missing out on a potential regular, I started gathering email addresses using a service called Mailchimp. In return for a reader’s email address, I would give away a free email course via email. About 85% of the time, that reader would stick around after the mini course to check out my new articles and updates.
The key to growing your mailing list is to retain your current readers and fans while at the same time as attracting new ones. This way, your audience will increase month on month.

- You’re Not Just a Blogger!
The moment you decide to use your blog to make money, you’re no longer just a blogger. At that moment, you also become an entrepreneur and your blog becomes a business.
1. How to Make Money as a Blogger: Advertising
This is the first way that majority of bloggers, myself included started earning Money. Advertising is a form of marketing communication that employs an openly sponsored, non-personal message to promote or sell a product, service or an idea. When it comes down to advertising, the following is crucial.
Companies want to work with bloggers or creators who have a following. I mean it makes sense, if they are to pay you for your space ad, like they would on a newspaper, then
someone slush that some people should be reading it. Advertising can take part in various ways, as the chart above indicates. And here is a quick run down.
An online advertising network or ad network is a company that connects advertisers to web sites that want to host advertisements. Think of this as a go between person who takes care of all the technical sides and ad coding while the Ad is live on your channel. In many instances, the AD network is in charge for your payment as well. So for a blogger to have Ads on their channel, like the ones on the right side of this blog, they need to join an Ad Network.
There are plenty of Ad Networks out there. So the Big decision for you is to choose a powerful Ad Network(s) which can generate the highest revenue for you. To help you get an idea, I have compiled my Favorite Ad Networks for you to choose from.
Google Adsense is recognized as the world’s largest and best online advertising network. Most importantly, it’s free and provides you the opportunity to earn money by placing ads on your website. They have high quality Ads, However the approval rate is a tinsy bit hard. Most small Bloggers aren’t so lucky with this, It took me two attempts to be accepted, and there is a myth that you should be blogging for at least 6 months before applying.
Well don’t sweat it, there are other Ad Networks that aren’t so hard to enter and I have compiled them below;
Hope The three Alternative, can be of Help…
- Direct Advertising
Bloggers often sell advertising directly instead of, or in addition to, using an ad networks. What this means is that the blogger is in direct contact with specific advertisers and will be able to negotiate rates and approve or disapprove advertisers based on whether or not what the advertiser wants to promote is a fit for their audiences.
With ad networks, the blogger doesn’t have as much control over these things. So many bloggers do prefer direct advertising because of the amount of control they have.
A Brand Ambassador would be one who is not only a spokesperson for the brand but also appears as a testimonial for the brand’s benefits. And gets paid doing it, in terms of a negotiated contract. He/she is an integral part of the brand persona and helps to build an emotional connection, which goes beyond just appearing on TV commercials. There are lots of brands searching for ambassadors and pay good bucks for it. (This is a whole post in its own…) In most cases, the influencers are seen posting about the same brands and ever so often seen dressed or using the same products.
Sponsored Social Contents
You’ve seen the girls all over Instagram. They’re promoting everything: from protein powder, teeth-whitening kits, detox teas and clothing brands. They have engaged followers, look effortlessly put together and People really want to buy what they’re advertising. Well that my darling is Sponsored social content in all its glory. Just Like the ambassadorship concept, A blogger or social media influencer is paid either money or product to advertise a brand to their audience. The difference between this and ambassadorship is, sponsored content can be a one time deal only.
The term video advertising encompasses online displayed advertisements that have video within them, but it is generally accepted that it refers to advertising that occurs before, during and/or after a video stream on the internet. This mostly is done through YouTube, or Instagram. It can also occur where a brand can pay a blogger inform of money or product to advertise their product on air through a video demonstration.
Newsletter advertising marketing involves sending out informational newsletters to interested parties. In this a blogger can link news about a brand in her Newsletter to her readers and receive a buck for her service. This can occur in the time when a brand is launching a new product or has a sale in their products.
Sponsored Posts and Text Links
This is Advertising paid for in terms of money, products or both by the brand. In return a Blogger is expected to write a blog posts, a YouTube video, Pinterest collaborations— or whatever medium they choose and in some instances a combination of all these outlets together. Lately it has become more transparent in blog posts by using the hashtags #ad #sponsored, “editorial” or “in collaboration with” to indicate that the content is sponsored by a brand.
The key to strike well in this posts, is having the ability to filter, what works with your brand and what doesn’t. And this is when saying no to a brand comes to play. If it doesn’t meet your standards, or the niche you stand for, simply say NO! Believe me, I first wondered how any person would say no to free money or products, but now that I have said my fair share of No’s I get it to its core.
2. How to Make Money as a Blogger: Affiliate Marketing
Affiliate marketing is the process of earning a commission by promoting other people’s (or company’s) products. You find a product you like, promote it to others and earn a piece of the profit for each sale that you make and others are generous enough to pay you per every click to their website sourced from your blog. For 99% of people, affiliate marketing is how they get started. All you need to do is promote a product that you feel has value and earn an income from it as an affiliate marketer. Affiliate marketing can take part in a number of ways as discussed below;
An affiliate network helps bloggers to monetize their blogs by providing a variety of options, as well as all necessary tools for running campaigns (tracking links, creatives etc.) Affiliate networks work on a CPA (Cost per Action) based model which means that bloggers get paid for every sale, click or both driven from their links depending on the network. The affiliate networks act as a go between merchants/ brands and bloggers
There are open affiliate links that accept everyone, such include Sites like ShopStyle that use affiliate links on blogs to link directly to products that the blogger is wearing or buying in photos and posts. In turn, bloggers will then get paid based on either clicks or a percentage of total sales made from their posts. While RewardStyle is a private Affiliate network that requires a particular invite. Currently am partners with Reward style.
The Shopping sites like Amazon are part of this affiliate marketing where as there is no middle man involved. All a blogger has to do is apply to be a member of the affiliate through the shopping site and share their link on their blog post. Payment occurs in the same trend like other affiliate marketing.
3. How to Make Money as a Blogger: Events
While not something most bloggers do I have noticed an increase in the number of bloggers making money by running events. These range from big conferences and events like ProBlogger Conference which hosts hundreds of bloggers every year right down to smaller meet-ups for a blogger’s readers where money is made either through charging readers to attend or by finding a sponsor for the event. Alternatively online events or summits are getting more popular.
4. How to Make Money as a Blogger: Products
This is one of the promising source of income for bloggers. It can be in form physical and online products. What does this mean? Do you have a product in mind, clothes, shoes, makeup, travel gear, recipes, presets, and so and so forth go into production and earn money through the purchase. 5. How to Make Money as a Blogger: Services
Just like Product selling, a common way that many bloggers make money is through offering services to their readers. Everyone has a skill set that businesses need and offering your time and expertise is a great way to make an income from your blog. These might be anything from coaching and consulting, to writing, to design, training or other freelance services. Personally this is one of the way I make money online, Through consultancy, Social media marketing, Web designing, and Logo Making. You have the same talent? Well, pitch a client and start making money online. See a few more details on services below
If an influencer or blogger has a niche, they can use it to teach others through seminars, paid online classes or one-on-one sessions. The Fashion & Beauty Blogger Conferences all around host both small panels and large conferences allowing bloggers to partake in speaking opportunities. Individual bloggers can also host these panels and classes to teach Instagram skills, DIY projects, makeup or photography.
Consulting & Training
Promoting your expertise to deliver training or consultancy services to businesses can be a highly profitable way to create an online income. I have helped businesses get started blogging by working with them to create editorial calendars, Build websites, create logos among others. There is room for you, Whether you’re an Excel guru, a marketing whiz or a customer services master you can build up your profile on your blog, and start getting paid doing what you love.
with so many businesses now running blogs there is a huge demand for competent writers and bloggers. By promoting your services on your blog as a vicious writer, You could also offer similar services such as blog writing, proofreading and editing too.
If you are good at illustration or design then there are lots of opportunities to offer your services to businesses or other bloggers. Whether that is creating infographics, logos or photo-editing you can use your blog to demonstrate your skills and pick up new clients.
6. How to Make Money as a Blogger: Indirect Sources
Use your blog to Build Your Credibility
Blogging to build credibility can lead to many money-making opportunities. For instance, let us say you start a blog in the fashion industry. People start reading your content, and your blog becomes very popular. You are now a recognized figure in the fashion industry. Once you have that authority, people might approach you to co-author a book on street style, or you could charge to speak at conferences or to run a style segment. This certainly isn’t a direct form of making money blogging, but it has worked for many well-known bloggers, and it can work for you, too.
7. How to Make Money as a Blogger: Others
There are of course other forms of income that bloggers experiment with. Some include asking for donations, syndicating content to other sites and lastly selling their blogs.
The biggest thing to keep in mind is that making money blogging is not possible by putting your site up and letting it sit there. The “if you build it, they will come” mentality doesn’t work here, so be sure you’re willing to put in the time. Most bloggers don’t see a spike of income for several months (sometimes years) after starting their blog. Before you dive too deep into blogging, remember these little bits of advice:
- Create Quality Content
- Don’t Spend Your Time Exclusively on Your Blog
- Don’t Be Afraid to Experiment
